About Our Company Founded by Jeff and Bill Duncan in 1996, Duncan's Garbage Service began as a Family owned, one truck business providing residential garbage pickup and waste removal services to households in Mcdowell County, Marion, N.C. Proudly Serving Mcdowell County for 28+ years. Founded in Marion, NC we provide world-class prompt dependable garbage service to households in and around Mcdowell County. After 28+ years in operation we are the largest private waste removal company in the area! We work with our local county offices to ensure we properly follow all local laws and ordinances. We operate rain or shine! We do take safety very seriously and sometimes our routes are delayed due to weather conditions. What is our Standard Service?
1. Weekly
2. Curbside pickup...Trash Cans/Containers must be at end of driveway the day of your service...If not at end of driveway at time discussed ...Service will resume your next service day. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
Capacity:
3.Limited to no more than 7 – 10 total 13 gallon kitchen bags weekly. If you determine there to be more than agreed limit of 7 -10 total 13 gallon kitchen bags, you must contact Duncan's Garbage Service for further arrangements. (NO EXCEPTIONS) If arrangements are not discussed with Duncan's Garbage Service ONLY 7 -10 total 13 gallon kitchen bags will be disposed of...(We understand this amount can vary occasionally…If any questions please contact Duncan’s Garbage Service.
4. All trash must be bagged.
(NO EXCEPTIONS) NO LOOSE...PAPER...BOXES...PLASTIC...CUPS...ALLUMINUM CANS…ENVELOPES...FAST FOOD BAGS...WRAPPERS...ETC...(NOTHING LOOSE)!
5. All bags must be tied
(NO EXCEPTIONS) Bags with Pull String handles must be (TIED). Bags without Pull String Ties MUST BE TIED...(NO EXCEPTIONS)
Why does trash need to be bagged and tied?
Trash must always be bagged and tied prior to collection for many reasons. We collect trash by hand and in an open air truck; in order to grab the trash out of the can with our hands, it must all be bagged...we cannot have any trash fly out of the truck as we are traveling. If there is loose trash in the can, when the trash bag is lifted to retrieve it then the loose trash falls onto the ground. We cannot spend time cleaning loose trash off of the ground by hand. As you can imagine it is unsanitary (even with gloves), puts the contractor at a health risk, and takes up time that could otherwise be spent collecting the next customer’s trash. Help us help you by making sure your trash is always bagged and tied prior to collection!
6.Trash out
by 5:30am or Night before your service day! Times may vary due to unforseen circumstances.
7.Weight of bags
Be considerate of the contractor as they have to attempt to throw above their head onto truck...If you can get it in your can does not necessarily determine that contractor will/can get it above their head. If bags have to be left due to weight...We will be notified by contractor...Your communication is Important...Please seperate into several smaller bags to accomadate disposal.
8. Recycling
The county provides very nice convenience centers for your use... free of charge.
9. All trash must not exceed 12-15lbs in weight per bag
our Contractors removes trash by hand and use a limited space. Weekly trash removal fees are reserved for residential properties. If there is a pattern of an abundance of weekly trash (10+ bags), we reserve the right to change the fees to our business rates. We do not pick up yard debris, tires, bio-hazard waste materials, concrete, or cleaning chemicals/fuel/oil.
10.If you do not meet the above requirements, we reserve the right to not collect the aforementioned

We have had Several Instances Where Our Contractors Have been Attacked by Protective Pets
We would ask that on the day of pickup for you to help us by restraining your pets so Our Contractors Can Have a Safe and Productive Day without any Delays due to Furbabies.
Our Trucks are loud and may be Intimidatingly loud to your pets, causing them to act uncharacteristically aggressive towards our drivers
If a holiday falls on a service day, we simply move that service day to the Friday of the week of the holiday. There are some exceptions, due to operation of Transfer Station and Contractors Schedule. (Follow Duncan’s Garbage Service via Facebook for UPDATES.)
The holidays we observe are: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. (Follow Duncan’s Garbage Service via Facebook for UPDATES.)
5:30 am is the standard. If your contractor consistently comes later, you may put your trash out later, but keep in mind if the team comes by early for whatever reason, your trash could be missed.
Payment is due at the beginning of the month. We accept cash, check, money order… (Credit Card and Debit Card will incur a Processing fee) and you must Contact Duncan’s Garbage Service for further details. Statements will be left by contractor and payment is due your next service day. Service will be suspended on all accounts that are past due and a ($10.00 late fee) will be added to the account.
Keep in mind this is residential trash pickup. So, household trash only.
Avoid the banned items: paint, oil, tires, car batteries, propane tanks, TVs, computers, printers, and hazardous materials. Make sure to bag all trash and tie all bags. This is extremely important. Also, Duncan’s will not be responsible for spilled paint…oil…chemical liquids of any kind.
If you require the use of sharps items such as diabetic needles and syringes, pin needles, etc, please use the appropriate sharps containers for the health and safety of our drivers.
No, we can’t pick up yard waste. Check with the Mcdowell County Transfer station to learn how to dispose of yard waste.
We must keep a Tight Reign on our Limits to ensure we have the resources to meet ordinary customer demand. If you have extra trash, you have options! If you regularly have more than the limit, sign up for our Double capacity service with a limit of 14 – 20 total 13 gallon kitchen bags. This service will be $25 extra per month added to your statement. If you have extra occasionally, just give us a call. We can discuss details upon contacting Duncan’s Garbage Service.
Yes. We would hate to see you go, but our desire to serve you means we won’t burden you with contracts or termination fees. We make it easy to sign up and easy to cancel.
Break them down, cut it up in small pieces, bag it, and it’s just trash to us. We will pick it up on your service day. If you prefer to recycle, you can take it to one of Mcdowell County’s Recycling Stations.

When you set up service, our staff will determine which route and day of the week.
We offer Truck Rentals...We deliver a 1 ton Dump Truck for a competable fee depending on the time frame you need...(We drop off Truck...You Load...We Empty). This includes: furniture, appliances, garage/attic clean outs, rental property clean outs, leftovers from moving in/out. Certain Items are prohibited...Discussed at time of Rental. Start when you want, cancel when you need to! No hidden fees! Weekly residential services start at $25 per month and will be paid monthly.

If your trash was not picked up, the contractor will notify Duncan’s Garbage Service, and will leave a reason/notice why it wasn’t disposed of on your trash can.
We will not pickup:
*loose/unbagged trash
*Untied trash bags
*If Trash is not at the end of the driveway (unless previously verified by company owner to receive special accommodations)
*If Trash is too heavy to lift (weight exceeds 12- 15lbs)
*If Too many bags
*If Trash is solely placed in small shopping bags…(WALMART, GROCERY, DEPARTMENT STORE, FAST FOOD BAGS.)
